Aquatic
weed harvesters represent a well-known type of water management
equipment used to fight the spread of weeds and wild vegetation
in canals, rivers and lakes. Different calibers are produced by
specialized companies in different countries to cope with actual
field conditions. For customers without a-priori harvesting experience,
a study of the existing weed type, its spread nature and growth
rate complemented by an assessment of space limitations should define
preliminary harvester specifications. Performance of equipment already
in service provides a reliable source of information for both old
and new users. Newly developed equipment should avoid drawbacks
experienced and build upon advantages realized.
A
RIVER NILE HARVESTER:
Our
OBOUR-1 aquatic weed harvester is an integrated system built to
cut and remove water hyacinth wildly spreading over some River Nile
waterways. It was solely designed by DMMAS
engineers. We partnered with TERSANA
to manufacture a system that satisfies the requirements
of The
Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
WORK
MECHANISM:
This
system consists of a harvester and an unloading conveyor. Mounted
on a marine pontoon, the harvester travels in waterways partially
clogged by water weeds. A front conveyor carries one horizontal
and two vertical cutting bars. Weeds are first cut vertically. Horizontal
cutters are then used to separate them. The volume cut is collected
in the harvester until it is filled. The full weed charge is fed
to the unloading conveyor at the shore for consequent transportation.
The process is repeated until clogging is cleared. The OBOUR-1 harvester
has a volume capacity of 16 cubic meters and a weight capacity of
8 tons. It travels in open water at 8 km/hr. The travel speed goes
down to 3 km/hr. in heavy bio-mass. The crane is free to rotate
over 360°. It has a lifting capacity of 500 kg and a maximum
outreach of 7 meters. The internal combustion engine provides 228
HP at 2200 RPM. The system height above water level is 4.10 meters.
When loaded, height decreases to 3.975 meters. The gross weight
with fuel amounts to 22 tons. The unloading conveyor moves on one
axle with four tires. It contains two castor wheels and one screw
jack. It is hydraulically operated through the harvester. Unloading
height amounts to 4.1 meters.
AVOID
WATER WEED HAZARDS ...
This
marine industry entails considerable complexity. Technical experience
should be combined with wild vegetation knowledge to help establish
and keep weed-free marine environments. The development of aquatic
weed harvesters forms a whole line of business for some companies.
Despite the fact that such harvesters represent but one type of
our products, the knowledge we have acquired allows us to be legitimately
located at the heart of this business. In case you are suffering
from water hyacinth or your canals are clogged by water weeds, you
may rightfully consult the experts. Seek our advice. Refer to our
