MONORAIL GRAB:

The grab constitutes a major component of our monorail-type weed screen cleaning systems installed at open-source water intakes of some irrigation pumping stations in Egypt. It comprises a fixed and a movable jaw. The fork-like fixed jaw is equipped with equidistant straight tines. The movable jaw has elbow-shaped tines. Two hydraulic cylinders open and close the movable jaw. The grab remains open as the carrying trolley approaches the target water intake. A winch lowers the grab at the right location where the fixed jaw tines become positively engaged between screen bars to remove accumulating weeds and debris as the grab moves downwards with its jaws open. The movable jaw is closed at the lower end of the grab stroke so as to collect weeds. The grab is then elevated and the trolley moves towards the discharge area where the grab is opened to discharge collected weeds.

The fixed jaw straight tines clean screen bars as they move from top to bottom.

Movable Jaw:

The movable jaw elbow-shaped tines help accommodate collected weeds. Made of T-Shaped steel sections and stiffened by a transverse steel strip, jaw strength is guaranteed.

Hydraulic Cylinders:

Two hydraulic cylinders are used to reliably open and close the grab movable jaw. A double-hose-mechanism working in parallel with the main winch mechanism connects the cylinders with the trolley hydro-power pack.

Main Grab Specifications:

All grab components are made from hot-galvanized sand-blast steel. Appropriate grab dimensions allow it to accommodate the required weed capacity and clean each water intake in two drops. Grab orientation is adjustable to avoid friction of tines with screen bars. Possible grab impact with the trolley is damped through teflon suspension.
