MONORAIL TROLLEY:

TRACK

The trolley constitutes a major component of our monorail-type weed screen cleaning systems installed at open-source water intakes of some irrigation pumping stations in Egypt. Loaded on four wheels, the trolley is hung from track beams. The trolley frame is made of hot galvanized steel and trolley sides are made of stainless steel. Sides are detachably attached to the frame to allow for easy maintenance. The trolley is equipped with a winch to lower and elevate the grab, a hydro-power pack to allow for reliable opening and closure of the grab movable jaw and a transverse drive system to move the trolley along the track.

Winch:

The winch is used to lower and elevate the grab through double-wire drums mounted on a single winch axle. It is driven by a squirrel-cage induction motor with an electromagnetic brake. A gearbox provides the required speed reduction. The winch axle is connected through gears and chains to a parallel axle on which double-hose drums are mounted. This mechanism works in parallel with the main winch mechanism to provide the hydraulic power necessary to open and close the grab jaws. Different electro-mechanical measures ensure grab winch security. Two proximity switches determine the grab stroke upper and lower ends. Overload is limited within a certain percentage of grab load carrying capacity. Download grab motion is stopped once wire slackness is sensed. Grab winches in service possess the following general characteristics.

  • Nominal Load Carrying Capacity 500 KG
  • Maximum Load Carrying Capacity 625 KG
  • Maximum Tensile Force 1525 KG
  • Descending /Ascending Speed 19 M/Min
  • Effective Winch Stroke 9-10 M

Hydro-Power Pack:

Due to the relatively small grab size, its movable jaw weight would not be sufficient for reliable closure and hydraulic power is used instead. Two hydraulic cylinders are secured to the grab to open and close its movable jaw. An appropriate hydro-power pack is added to the trolley to provide the necessary power. A flexible connection between the pack and the cylinders is available through a double-hose-mechanism that works in parallel with the main winch mechanism. Operation may be manual, automatic or semi-automatic. The hydro-power packs in service comprise the following components.

  • 1.5-KW 1395-RPM 3-Phase Electric Motor
  • Gear Pump
  • Pressure Gauge
  • Relief Valve
  • Pilot-Operated Check Valve
  • Counter-Balance Valve
  • Directional Valve
  • Return Filter with Anti-Clogging Indicator
  • Pressure Switch
  • Level Indicator
  • Tank Filler & Breather

Transverse Drive System:

The transverse drive system moves the trolley along the track at a speed of 20 M/Min. The systems in service comprise the following components.

  • 0.55 KW Squirrel Cage Induction Motor With Electromagnetic Brake
  • Right-Angled Shaft Gearbox
    • Reduction Ratio 28.6
    • Output Shaft Speed 48 RPM
    • Output Shaft Torque 102 N M
    • Service Factor 1.5
    • Shaft Mounting
  • Two Driving Wheels
  • Two Idle Wheels
